The classic hits of singer-songwriter and Rivermaya frontman Rico Blanco will be turned into a musical called “Liwanag sa Dilim,” scheduled for a March 2025 staging.
The musical was announced by theater production company 9Works Theatrical on its social media platforms on Wednesday, Dec. 4.

Article continues after this advertisementBlanco first became known as the chief songwriter, vocalist and guitarist of the OPM rock band Rivermaya from 1994 to 2007. He has since 2008 established himself as a solo artist and is known as one of the leading rock icons in the Philippines.
He is best known for his hit songs “You’ll Be Safe Here,” “Kisapmata,” “Your Universe” and “Amats,” to name a few.
Earlier this year, Blanco released the revived version of Rivermaya’s hit song “Kisapmata,” which featured his ex-girlfriend Maris Racal in its music video, where she portrayed a telecaster.
